5HTTP, also known as 5-Hydroxytryptophan or 5-HTP, is a mood-boosting amino acid from a plant extract that has been reported to help people not only lose weight, it also helps them feel better emotionally.

5HTTP Helps Stops Cravings

5HTTP works by boosting serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that the nerve cells and brain use to communicate with each other. Our bodies create serotonin naturally, but at times the demand for serotonin outweighs the supply. When this happens, we typically have cravings for sugary and high carbohydrate  foods. We may also feel depressed and moody.

A lot of stress can cause serotonin levels to drop, which results in overeating. By increasing serotonin levels through taking 5http supplements, it’s possible to calm the mind and reduce cravings.

Studies have shown that people who reduce their caloric intake and take 5http supplements find that they don’t suffer from increased appetite or increased cravings. One Italian study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported this during a 12-week study. The participants in the research study to 300 mg of 5-HTP three times a day.

Another study that was published in the International Journal of Obesity, revealed that 5HTTP supplements were reported to aid type 2 diabetes patients reduce food intake, especially high carbohydrate foods, while improving their blood sugar levels.  Taking these supplements delayed the progression of the disease, according to the study.

Good Health

5HTTP has also been reported to aid conditions like depression, anxiety, hot flashes, migraine headaches, insomnia and  may also help other serotonin-related conditions such as depression, tension, hot flashes, insomnia, and fibromyalgia. Because 5HTTP is also noted as being an antioxidant, it also helps improve overall good health.

Side Effects from 5HTTP

While many scientific studies have revealed that 5HTTP is safe and effective, there may be some side effects like upset stomach, intestinal upset and changes in sleeping habits. It’s very important that people who are considering taking 5HTTP talk with their doctor or a health expert first.

There are additional reports of side effects that include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, sexual problems and muscle issues.

It’s also important to note that most supplements do not have approval from the FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration). People should always be cautious when taking any supplements. They should check with their doctor first, especially if they are taking any other medications because there could be some interactions with 5HTTP. In addition, if you’re taking medication already for depression, you should ask your doctor first about 5HTTP.
